Run a Mutt Training
We Make SIT Happen!
Here at Run A Mutt, we pride ourselves on being balanced trainers, meaning we can incorporate multiple different tools and training styles to customize your dog’s training! Our motto is “train the dog in front of you” which can mean different instruction for each individual dog and handler.
We believe in choosing what route you feel comfortable with, and offering up to date education if you would like to introduce a new training tool or style if the current is not showing results. Training should be a fun, bonding moment with your dog and we want to provide a safe and shame free environment to achieve your desired goals.
Private 1-on-1 training
Train in the privacy of your own home with one of our trainers! This is an excellent option if you are wanting to work on a specific behaviour issue you are struggling with, puppy proofing your home, go over a maintenance routine for daily life, or want to be ready for obedience classes or adventure hikes!
Beginner’s Obedience
Life is busy! We’re focusing on real life practical obedience for our Mutts. Together we will find what training style and tools works best for you and your Mutt to help you succeed in training!
You will get weekly homework to practice and incorporate into your daily routine, and a booklet to go home with detailing what we will be working on (the ol’ dog ate your homework will not work here!)

Intermediate obedience
Get ready for longer durations to our beginners obedience skills, introduction to heel, commands while on the move, "stop and drop" while we recall them, and lots more!
Prerequisite: Run A Mutt Beginners Obedience Class

Puppy preschool
This class is just for the babies! If your puppy is under 5 months old this is the class for them. We go over maintaining a consistent routine for the little Mutts, as well begin our foundations for future training commands and name recognition as well as early positive socialization and confidence building!
Two sets of puppy vaccinations required for the babies to join us!

Board and Train
An intensive and thoughtfully structured three week training program designed to tackle behavioural issues such as reactivity, aggression, leash pulling and overall bad manners. Dogs will live in with their trainer during the week and are sent home with homework on the weekends.
TrickS Class
Introducing Run a Mutt Tricks Class!
In this class you will learn to teach your dogs all sorts of tricks and skills. This is a great way to build your relationship with your dog and work on confidence building.

Bark in the park
$10 Drop-In
Bark in the Park are perfect classes for mutts who have trained with us in the past and are looking to level up their obedience skills in new and exciting environments! Classes are typically help bi-weekly on Monday nights at 6pm at various locations through Courtenay.
Prerequisite: Must have attended training with us before.
